Bruce Clark, SCS Engineers, Earns a LEED Accredited Professional Credential from the US Green Building Council Tampa, FL – SCS Engineers (SCS) is pleased to announce that Bruce Clark, PE, has become a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED® AP). Mr. Clark is a Project Director at SCS’s Tampa, Florida, office and his professional experience over 28 years includes of new building construction, major renovation projects, and building condition assessments. SCS is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), a nonprofit organization that administers this credential program. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The LEED certification process provides a template for guiding the planning, design and construction of high performance buildings, incorporating many green and sustainable elements and features to reduce environmental impact. Buildings developed in line with these principles can provide a higher quality occupant experience, increase occupant productivity, and reduce operation and maintenance costs for the owner over the lifetime of the building. The LEED process incorporates a scoring system that can result in certification at one of several progressively higher levels from basic, “Certified”, to the highest level, “Platinum.” Additional rewards for this certification are a LEED plaque recognizing the sustainable nature of the building, and the building’s lower environmental impact. In fact, many owners also have successfully used the LEED certification in their marketing programs to increase interest in their structure and to enhance their firm’s image to the community and industry. Commercial buildings as defined by standard building codes are eligible for certification under the LEED certification program. A LEED AP typically manages the LEED building certification process. The LEED AP has demonstrated through examination and experience a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles as well as the LEED Scoring/Rating System. LEED AP involvement on a building project’s team provides one point towards certification. LEED certification is one element of SCS’s environmental sustainability policy. About SCS Engineers ### |
