SCS Engineers Appoints Michelle Mulet Nicholls to Head Solid Waste Planning and Facilities Practice Group Long Beach, CA - SCS Engineers (SCS) has announced that Michelle Mulet Nicholls has been appointed Director of Materials and Resources Management Services and will lead the firm’s Solid Waste Planning and Facilities practice group in the Western region of SCS. Ms. Nicholls has been with the firm since 1998 and has established a diverse project portfolio in environmental program design and implementation. She will remain based in the firm’s Long Beach office. “We are excited to have Michelle take on this new role,” said Patrick Sullivan, Senior Vice President of SCS. “Resource management captures the essence of SCS’s fully integrated service offering to our private and public clients. We will further expand our solid waste planning and sustainability services with Michelle leading the group.” During her career at SCS, Ms. Nicholls has developed an extensive project portfolio of both public and private sector clients including project work in waste minimization and recycling technical assistance, waste diversion studies, grant management, environmental policy development, LEED™ certification assistance, solid waste management plans and reporting, and a variety of community and business outreach programs. Her team has substantial experience in greening of public venues and special events, supply chain management, greenhouse gas reduction estimates, green procurement programs, recycling and waste-to-energy facility feasibility studies, rate analysis, and contract negotiations and compliance. Ms. Nicholls holds a Graduate Certificate in Project Management and a B.S. in both Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California. Her extensive professional affiliations include the Solid Waste Association of North America where she serves as the Co-Director of the Recycling and Special Waste Technical Division, the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition where she serves as a Board Member and Corporate Secretary, and the Southern California Waste Management Forum.
