   PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. McManus was the President of Environmental Health Services, Inc., an occupational safety and health consulting firm acquired by SCS in 2008. Mr. McManus is currently a Vice President of SCS. Mr. McManus has nearly 30 years of multi-discipline environmental experience.  He currently operates a comprehensive, multi-discipline environmental safety and health consulting and AIHA accredited laboratory providing industrial hygiene, environmental, laboratory, training, and safety engineering.  Mr. McManus supports the legal community in toxic tort, biological contamination, forensic analysis, worker’s compensation, accident investigation, and construction defect matters.  He has been accepted as an expert witness in industrial hygiene, environmental issues, accident investigation/reconstruction, and fungal contamination cases in multiple jurisdictions.  Additional project experience is provided below.

  Environmental Management

Senior Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Safety and Health Division, EG&G Energy Measurements, Inc., Las Vegas, NV.  Responsible for comprehensive Industrial Hygiene program management for a major Department of Energy (DOE) Contractor.  Responsibilities include training program development, compliance with DOE orders and directives, and supervision of EG&G/EM hygienists and technicians at nine locations across the United States.

Vice-President, Industrial Hygiene Programs, EnviroMD, Inc., Tucson, AZ.  Managed consulting services for a multimillion dollar safety, industrial hygiene, asbestos management, and hazardous waste consulting firm.  Directly responsible for operation of the I.H.  Programs Division.  Formed the Safety and Health Training Division, offering over 50 distinct programs of instruction.  Supervised a staff of 3 managers and over 10 professionals and technicians.

Advisory Industrial Hygienist, Safety and Industrial Hygiene Department, International Business Machines Corporation, Tucson, AZ.  Provided technical oversight of a large Safety and Industrial Hygiene department with supervisory responsibilities.  Specific activities included planning and allocating staff resources in response to regulatory requirements, liaison to local government and professional associations, budget planning, and training program development.

Advisory Product Planner, Tucson Field Project Office, International Business Machines Corporation, Tucson, AZ.  Temporary assignment in an IBM Marketing and Field Service organization responsible for customer satisfaction issues.  Responsibilities included effective management of customer/product concerns by providing technical support to the Field organizations.  This position required frequent exposure to executive management.  A key focus of this assignment was product safety issues.

Staff Industrial Hygienist, International Business Machines Corporation, Tucson, AZ.  Conducted health hazard surveys and controlled exposures for a manufacturing and development facility of over 7,000 employees.  Managed a variety of programs, including airborne contaminant monitoring and toxicology review of chemicals used in processes and products.  Also directed noise evaluation and control activities, ventilation system design, respiratory protection, and radiation and laser safety.

Research Assistant II, Laboratory Manager, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Arizona Medical Center, Tucson, AZ.  Conducted independent basic research of the pharmacologic effects of psychoactive drugs on the central nervous system through radioreceptor techniques.  Also managed business operations and lab safety for five years in this teaching medical center laboratory.
